As I mentioned in my Versatile Blogger Award post, I can’t swim. I also have a fear of drowning. Does this fear make me want to learn to swim (so I could minimize the risk of me actually drowning)? No. And there’s more…I also tend to get sea sick. Typically I would avoid deep waters and boat rides as much as I could but yesterday I stepped out of my comfort zone…big time. What I thought would be a typical, relaxing beach day turned out to be an adventurous one for me (And I’m quite pleased about it).
I took Livin Trini’s ‘Banana Bus’ out to sea. It was guided and pulled by a small boat and we traveled to a few beaches up the north coast.
The journey was quite a scenic one and not as bumpy and rough as I thought it would be. Somehow I managed to not get sea sick and I even came off the ‘Banana Bus’ and into the water (after a bit of convincing). I was in about 15 feet of water which isn’t a lot, but it was still terrifying for me. Luckily I had a life jacket on. After a while I realized that it wasn’t so bad and I was a bit more relaxed…still slightly scared though. Not something I ever thought I’d do.
Would I do it again? Definitely. I’m one step closer to fully overcoming my fear. Maybe next I’ll tackle my fear of heights (I know. I have a lot of fears).
Stay tuned for more adventures 🙂

Way to work towards conquering your fear! As a random side note, these banana bus boats were used in the last Jaws movie…pretty awesome.

I’m such a fan of the Jaws movies, it’s my nerd trait. Like dinosaurs. Sharing my random tidbits of useless knowledge with those around me. 🙂 Still very proud, it takes nerves to face something that you’re scared of.
