Cooking with Bangs| quarantini recipe

Happy Saturday! I’m back with another blog post and I may or may not have decided to start another series on here called ‘cooking with bangs’. Hello, nice to meet you, I’m Bangs. I got the nickname when I cut bangs 2 years ago (?) and it just stuck.

Now you and I both know that I don’t do recipe posts that often. That’s because of all the prep and work that it takes and I usually don’t have the time. But since I’m at home now and have all the time in the world (not really, I should be studying), I thought I’d share some interesting recipes with you guys both on here and over on Instagram lives.

The first recipe that I wanted to share is a lemon drop martini recipe that I use to make ‘quarantinis’. Get it? I’ve been drinking way too many of these lately but they’re just SO delicious and I LOVE decorating them. Enough with the rambling. Here’s the recipe.



Instructions

1. Prep you glasses

Firstly, I like to start with the garnish. An easy way to get a spiral lemon peel to pop on the rim of your glass is to cut a thin slice of your lemon. Then cut this into halves and using a sharp knife, remove the insides (pulp + white rim adjacent to the peel). All you want is the peel and the thinner, the better. Once you have the peel you can use a straw (reusable. Save the turtles) or chop stick or something similar to wrap the peel around tightly. Hold for a couple seconds and when you release it should be somewhat of a spiral. Another creative tip for garnish is to zest your lemon and combine this zest with the white sugar that’ll be on the rim of the glass (not pictured).

To effectively garnish your glass, run a slice of lemon around the rim (hold the glass facing downward to prevent the juice from messing up the entire glass) and then dip the glass in your white sugar and zest combination, covering to entire rim.

2. Make the drink

Once your glasses are prepped and ready to go, it’s time to make the martinis. Add the ice to your shaker, followed by the vodka, syrup and lemon juice. If you don’t have a shaker, you can use a metal cup/coffee mug with a lid.

Pro tip: it’s so easy to make your own syrup if you don’t have at home (1/2 cup water & 1/2 cup white sugar on low heat. Gradually raise the heat, stirring continuously and bring to a boil. Allow to cool before use and store in refrigerator after for up to a month).

Once your ingredients are in, do like Taylor Swift and shake shake shake.

3. Pour, snap a photo & drink!

After shaking a couple times, pour the drink and enjoy. It’s that simple.
